In the South Korean zombie classic TRAIN TO BUSAN, there is a scene where the zombies are locked in one train compartment with the uninfected humans doing all that they can so these zombies can’t escape. It is a natural human instinct for survival, to not die, and the zombie film is probably the most existential of the horror genre to embody this.

Anyone who has seen Steven Soderbergh’s ominously dark 2011 pandemic thriller ‘Contagion’ during this COVID-19 period is probably musing about how it has spot-on predicted our dire situation. Yet, in essence, the reality of our actual pandemic is much aberrantly stranger and more insidious than the researchers and writers of the film can foresee.

So we are still on lockdown. And despite certain restrictions being lifted, the vaccine is still so far away that it’s still best to stay at home. What to do? Aside from getting coronavirus TV news updates, Netflix marathon-watching is probably what most of you are doing. Based on my many conversations with my Netflix-loving friends, I present the three most popular shows to binge on while we are forced to stay safe indoors by this nasty pandemic.
